What are the biggest challenges faced by mobile app developers?

In my opinion, User expectations are a major challenge for app developers. Users expect apps to be intuitive, user-friendly and have a wide range of features. This can put a lot of pressure on the developers to create apps of high quality. What else?

The mobile operating systems including Android and iOS are constantly being iteratively upgraded.

Some API methods are deprecated in new version of mobile system. Some new security policies or designs are introduced. These require apps to roll out new versions accordingly and adapt to these new policies.

For example, it has deprecated startActivityForResult in favour of registerForActivityResult. It was one of the first fundamentals that any Android developer has learned, and the backbone of Android's way of communicating between two components.
Another example, scoped storage is mandatory for all apps targeting Android 11.
