I've been following the directions on the Nextpit article that I can't link to because the website thinks it's an external site! (www.nextpit.com/samsung-galaxy-s5-android-manual-installation) But when I try to install the recovery through Odin, it always says "Fail."
One thing I didn't do: the article says they used a virtualbox for the installation. Did I need to do that if my computer already runs Windows 10?

I don't think you need a virtualbox if your computer already runs Windows 10.
Have you downloaded the Samsung USB Driver on your Windows 10?

Download size < 0.15 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.
The minimalist app available on Play Store: https://goo.gl/ws42fN

Yes, I installed the Samsung USB Driver. When I started Odin, the Log said "Added," which, according to the article, was supposed to mean it was communicating with my phone.
