Can photos be stored locally on an Android One phone?

I'm planning to buy an Android One phone because I want to get away from all the bloatware Samsung keeps loading on to my current phone most of which duplicate the apps I've installed already.

However, I don't want to use Google Cloud to store them on even though I know it's unlimited and free.

So my question is can photos be store locally using internal storage or on an SDcard by using an app of some kind or another on an Android One device?
