Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 — Inherited a Galaxy Tab, cant update APPS automatically......

I sincerely hope that someone here can help. I have recently inherited a Galaxy Tab 10.1 SIM Card version, running Android 4.04. I have done a complete reset to works settings and setup all the accounts. The google play store updated itself automatically, however when I click in play store on the settings menu and select my apps, it claims that it cannot find any updates. However, if I manually search for an APP, take youtube for example, it then gives me the option to install an update! I can download and install the update in this way without problem.

I have tried another complete reset, deleting data and cache for play store etc. but i still cant get the play store to recognise updates on its own.

I hope I have explained the problem OK. If any further information is required to aid in the troubleshooting then please let me know.
