I got a sentence on my S4: "Firmware upgrade encountered issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I used Kie 3 but it noted me that it's not supported. How comes?

Hi, I think you can flash your device. Download a corresponding firmware on the PC and launch Odin3 to get it flashed.
However, this will erase all your data on device so if you have backup before, you can go on this way freely. On this other hand, I think you can search a recovery tool to fix the bricked status "Firmware upgrade encountered issue". As for me, I have abandoned S3 and using S7 Edge now, so I haven't encountered with this case now.
