Consider that I have an external HDD which doesn't have a separate power source and is powered using the USB host to which it is connected to. Now, I am connecting this HDD to my Galaxy S6 Edge+ using an OTG cable and a powered USB hub. I am using a powered USB hub since USB OTG specification restricts the maximum amount of current the host device can provide to as little as 8 mA which is not sufficient for my HDD to work, especially if I connect other devices like a keyboard, mouse and flash drive as well. I am assuming that this setup will work as I haven't tested it out yet (I have connected devices using normal USB hub, but not with a powered USB hub). What I want to know is whether my phone which acts as a USB host now will draw power from this hub to charge it simultaneously? If it doesn't, can I use an OTG-Y cable to charge my phone and connect this HDD using the powered USB hub at the same time?
