TURN OFF SCAN FOR THREATS

I have downloaded an APK app several times, but my phone won't allow me to install it. Every time I try to install it says "unable to scan for threats" and crashes. I have "unknown sources" checked and pretty much every security setting turned off, yet it still tries to "scan for threats" and won't let me install the app.

Turn app Google app verification off

Find a separate app called Google Settings
In your main Settings app, scroll down and touch Google >> Touch Security. >> nder "Verify apps," turn Scan device for security threats on or off. When this setting is on, it regularly checks your device activity and prevents or warns about potential harm. NOw turn that off

Thanks for your help Sanjai, but I already did that. First thing I did was turn off the tab that says "scan device for security threats", yet it still tries to scan the app. Is there anything else I can try?

I recently had the same problem as above. I could not find a way to completely turn off the "Lookout" app on my phone; therefore, I temporally uninstalled the program. See my directions below.

Find the steps below to allow the "APK" file to open.

  1. Temporarily uninstall the "Lookout Security & Antivirus" App on your device.

Settings>Phone (Applications) [The "Applications" option should have an orange icon]>Applications Manager>Find "Lookout" in the alphabetized list and click on it> click "Uninstall"

  1. Download and open the "APK" file

  2. Reinstall the "Lookout" app

I hope this helps!

Ok im with you on the down load problem on the fox fi key . My phone also scans then says cannot scan. Ive done all you have said except the last option . I cant seem to locate the orange icon to get me access to uninstall lookout. Im either not reading it right or my brain us fried. Its very simple from what you have written. Can you see how i might be missing this?

I had the same problem, and since Lookout comes pre-installed I was not able to uninstall it...but I was able to turn off "App Security" under Settings and worked like magic. I hope this helps.

You would think, that if we authorize an app to be downloaded that would tell the security systems to stop shutting down the apps we install.. so annoying..

Lookout was the problem for me. Even though I force stopped the app, turned off everything that was said here. It finally worked once I took off Lookout as a default for other apps. Went to install the apk and it asked me the choices of how I want to install it. So it's because Lookout is set to default :) .

Glad you got the problem fixed!
Just one question,
The apk you were trying to install!
I'll bet that it was not a Google app!
Lookout is a Google security app. And Google probably programmed it to reject any apps but theirs!
Just another one of Google's underhanded business tactics!
I used to have lookout in my phone, untill i discovered that Google uses lookout as a back door to install unwanted updates and bloatware apps in our devices!
That's when I uninstalled lookout permanently!
Fortunately lookout was not factory installed app in my phone so I was able to get rid of it all together!
