My Android 10 Smartphone is connected via
1. WiFi connection--->router--->landline telecom provider
2. separate mobile LTE connection provider

The Wifi connection is much fast and has no data usage limit

Now assume I got a WhatsApp message with embedded video.
When I turn off mobile data LTE provider connection and leave only WiFi open then Whatsapp is NOT able to download the video.

I got an error popup:

"Download failed. The download was unable to complete. Please try again later"

The Wifi works perfect. I can download huge files from e.g. browser websites without a problem. But not from WhatsApp

As soon as I turn on mobile data provider I can download the video in WhatsApp too.

So how can I tell WhatsApp to give downloads over Wifi priority?

Clear cache and clear data on your WhatsApp.
Settings - Apps - WhatsApp - Storage, tap “Clear Cache and Clear Data”.

Then reboot the phone and open WhatsApp to see if the problem is gone.

Download size < 0.12 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.
