Which file is the Android App Bundle generated?

Hi,

I opened my project in Android Studio 3.2.1, selected menu item 'Build - Generate Signed Bundle', selected radio button 'Android App Bundle', entered my key store password, and then clicked 'finish'.

It showed 'App bundle(s) generated successfully'.

Is the file app.aab which locates in folder 'MyProject\app\release\release' my Android App Bundle generated?

Why is the file app-release.apk which locates in folder 'MyProject\app\release' smaller than app.aab?
