Can anyone tell me why I can receive a group text but I can't respond to them?
I think it has something to do with the settings, but not sure.

Could it be because the text are sent from a tablet?
Or could it be because of different carriers?

What kind of group text? The person who formed the Group may need to change your status in the group. Sometime people or companies have groups they can message but have the have it set not to allow replies, like a no response email

It's a group text of season greetings from a member of my extended family (I don't even know who it is).
I recieve this text and all the responses,
But when I type in my response and hit send, it will not send!
I can respond to any other group text that I receive without a problem
I have checked the settings in my messenger app. The group text setting is on!
Could the reason be that I don't have this sender programmed into my contacts?
Or, maybe it's the device the text is being sent from? (I heard of a family member receiving text from a tablet but she couldn't respond with her phone, she had to use her tablet to respond. )
Or maybe different carriers?

It could be if the originator is not in your contacts though I have not heard that issue before. The tablet issue I have never dealt with, carrier should not bean issue as well as phone manufacture. Do you know the other responder are they in your contacts?

However many that responded are in my contacts.

Text someone in your contacts that is in the group and find who added you. See if they did something that would block your response. That is my only suggestion, it seem quit unusual that you can receive but not send.

One other thought find some one the has the sender's number and add her to your contacts maybe that will solve it.

Your last reply gave me food for thought!
Let's suppose the sender of the original group text dose not have me progamed in his contacts! And he is sending the group text to his aunt, who is my sister in law. And my sister in law has me in HER contacts and group text. Would I get the original group text? And would I be able to respond?

It's a shot in the dark, but I think that's what is happening here.
What do you think?

If your sister in law forwarded the group text maybe but them you should still be able to replay to her, but not the group. Every group text I have been involved in nothing like this has ever happened. It just seem like a strange problem that I have not personally come across before. Ask your sister in law for the number put it in your contacts and text him to add you to the group. That should solve your problem because, I think you are some how getting the group text while not being a member of the group.
