Internal storage problem

Device storage=16gb.There is nothing on device except pre-installed apps and 3 browsers.When I check all folders in device storage then tap details the total amount of space being used is only a few mb yet device storage shows 16gb of storage being used and I can't download anything or even open anything because it says...not enough space. What is going on ? How can I fix this? I can't delete anything to free up space because there isn't anything except like I said a few mb. All my pictures and videos are on sd card. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know what to do.

Do one thing. Just Reset your phone. Take backup of all important things in your phone and then do reset. It should be like new phone. May be there are some files that is taking too much space or it might be some bug. I am sure once you reset it, It will be fine.

For my phone, Settings - Memory & storage, there is a menu option, space cleanup. I think your samsung phone should have a similar function.

Had the exact same problem .
Go to storage and delete cashed data!
Cashed data is data stored on your hard drive for everything you do with your device.
You should clear this on a regular basis!
