I recently bought a 'new' unlocked S5 Verizon and am only now beginning to wonder what the 'Verizon' bit imples. Some apps I tried rejected the install because the phone was rooted and insecure (eg. Android Pay). I have been advised to use Smart Switch on my laptop to install the latest OS (currently V5.0 Lollipop), which will also unroot the phone. I am wary (I am not a techie) of doing this as I do not know if the phone is unlocked by software in the rooting, or of any other consequences of this action.
Advise, please.
