I've searched around for a couple hours trying to find out before posting.
I'm a newb in most respects so please bear with me. (And sorry if this is the wrong subforum!)
I have a zenfone 2 (sim free) updated to the latest firmware/android updates.
- I connect to the internet via wifi only (I have no carrier because I don't have that kind of money)
- I have no sim card
- I bought it in USA
- I live in Japan
All of the services I've seen (google voice, burner, inum) require I be in the states and or have an existing carrier (phone number) before being able to create a phone number.
I want a phone number so I can call landlines in Japan. I wanted to use the app WhatsCall to do that, but in order use that app I need a phone number.
I'm willing to accept the fact that what I'm trying to do is impossible. But I'd like to ask the pros/those-in-the-know if it's possible or not before giving up.
Thanks in advance for any info in these regards!
