Samsung Galaxy S3 — s3 cant update

We had to reboot the phone 2 days ago as it was constantly restarting itself......now it will not allow updates.....a message comes up saying "your device has been modified, software updates are not available" Any ideas??

Your device is rooted ! right?
Got to recovery and clear cache then wipe data / factory reset
this will remove the restarting problem

if you need to update your phone
download the latest update and flash it with odin

Sorry.....very alien to tech speak.....what is "rooted" ?

We did the wipe data etc to cure the restarting problem.......which worked......but this is when the unable to update problem began

usually rooted device show this message " your device has been modified"

Try updating with kies
Click Tools-> Firmware upgrade and initilazation
