Before you proceed with a hard reset, ensure that you have backed up all of your data, like contacts, messages, pictures, app settings, game progress etc, because all of this will be 100% wiped with a hard reset. Some good backup apps for Android that are free are G Cloud Backup, Super Backup, App Backup & Restore....
Hard reset
Hard reset wipes everything including the contents of your internal SDCard, you punch this into the dialpad to initiate it: *2767*3855#. Whatever firmware you last flashed to will be the firmware you get back but everything will be wiped!
Factory reset
Factory reset can be done either in settings or via recovery menu. It wipes all user data and firmware settings but leaved the contents of your internal SDCard intact.
- Power off Galaxy Note 3 N9000
- Press and hold Volume UP + Home + Power buttons.
- In the recovery menu, navigate to ‘’wipe data factory reset’’ with the volume buttons.
- Press power button to confirm.
- After the hard reset is done, select reboot system now.
- All your data is now gone from the phone
If your phone freezes or has fatal errors, the troubleshoot for this is by pressing and holding the power button for 7 seconds or more.
If you phone keeps on freezing and hangs, close programs. If it is frozen and unresponsive, then press the power button for 10 to 15 seconds, at which point the device will reboot on its own. If you are still having problems with your phone, you can perform a factory rest of your Note 3, explained in another forum tutorial.
