500: maintenance mode

Greetings from the Engine Room!

Sorry, but there's really nothing to see here right now. Our server is in maintenance mode – and our little bot is trying to sort the error messages with its last bit of energy.

Whether it was a data leak, a power outage in the cluster, or just a grumpy bit – we don't know yet. But what we do know is:

The data drama escalated into a server meltdown. But don't worry: We're on it.

What now?

  • Everything is surely running smoothly over at our colleagues from inside digital – why not stop by!
  • Or you could pass the time by visiting our social media channels – for example Instagram, YouTube or TikTok. At least there are no server problems there – promised.

Thanks for your patience. Our bot is already rebooting at full speed. 🔧

Opinion: Phone certifications are getting out of control
Most of us know how difficult it is to differentiate your product in a highly commoditized market, with strong competition from dozens of different brands in some regions. One way to get the attention of the market is to highlight special features with certifications from a well known company, but in my opinion things are getting out of hand.

Galaxy S21 FE aftermath: Samsung missed the hype train!
Suddenly. it appeared out of the blue: the Galaxy S21 FE. Samsung delivered the "Fan Edition" of the Galaxy S21 series almost a year after the release of the Galaxy S21. Not only that, the launch of this handset happened just a few weeks before the expected introduction of the Galaxy S22 series. Having revealed a brand new phone so close to the next flagship model's release would not make much sense for most consumers, and I will explain to you further below.

2022 Expectations: For a more inclusive, sustainable and creative technology
Social networks in check, chip shortages, foldable phones being successful and the fight of some companies for more privacy and environmental care say a lot about 2021. The year when once again technology failed as a solution to curb the spread of COVID-19.

GIVEAWAYS
We are back! Here's to a happy new year, 2022!
2021 has only a few hours left - so it is time to celebrate its end and welcome the new year. Last year I wrote that I was glad that 2020 was over and that we could look forward to a better year. No, the pandemic is not over yet. And climate change continues at alarming rates. But regardless, there's something else that makes me really happy.

Merry Christmas! 2021 was the year of the "I": Is the "We" coming now?
Have we all gone mad? Sometimes it seems as if the world is coming apart at the seams. Hatred, resentment and violence are on the rise all over the world. Part of this is likely due to things like social media or chat groups, where many people are becoming more radicalized among like-minded people. Are we humans overwhelmed with the future and its technologies?

How Android's emergency call shortcut ruined my morning!
Yes, it could have also saved my life. But not today: What started as a beautiful morning turned into my personal Pearl Harbor disaster within a few keystrokes! Because my Pixel 6 automatically sent an emergency call to the authorities after a key combination that I still haven't figured out. What's left is amazement and annoyance at Google turning such a vital matter into yet another digital mishap.

TABLET
Opinion: Beta culture - Why do we increasingly buy unfinished products?
Each new feature or software update is eagerly awaited and installed as soon as possible, as things get even better when they are upgraded, right? But what if the novelty was promised months before, even during the announcement of the device? Well, this is an increasingly common trend that is not only seen in the realm of smartphones but gadgets in general.

One UI 4.0 review: Undecidedly original
After optimizing its software update policies, building new bridges with Google, and placing foldable smartphones on the map for good, Samsung ends the year by shipping the One UI 4.0 update for its major 2021 smartphone releases.

Opinion | Buy your best Christmas gifts now!
If forecasts of economists prove to be true, the next few months will look rather bleak! This is because the global economy is caught up in supply chain bottlenecks, something that not even a container ship that remains stuck in the Suez Canal could top. If you dislike seeing nothing underneath the Christmas tree in December, you might want to hurry up and buy those presents now.
