500: maintenance mode

Greetings from the Engine Room!

Sorry, but there's really nothing to see here right now. Our server is in maintenance mode – and our little bot is trying to sort the error messages with its last bit of energy.

Whether it was a data leak, a power outage in the cluster, or just a grumpy bit – we don't know yet. But what we do know is:

The data drama escalated into a server meltdown. But don't worry: We're on it.

What now?

  • Everything is surely running smoothly over at our colleagues from inside digital – why not stop by!
  • Or you could pass the time by visiting our social media channels – for example Instagram, YouTube or TikTok. At least there are no server problems there – promised.

Thanks for your patience. Our bot is already rebooting at full speed. 🔧

Cowboy Bike 3 review: the city speedster is better than ever
E-bikes are currently booming. From The Netherlands, the slick city cruiser from VanMoof is selling hot like hotcakes. Coming out of Belgium, the more sporty Cowboy Bike offers an electric mobility solution for those in more of a hurry. I’ve been riding the third generation of Cowboy Bike on the streets of Berlin to see what it’s all about. Here’s my full review.

Google Pixel 4a 5G review: living in the Pixel 5’s shadow
Google does seem to have issues in keeping in its online store this year: the well-known home speakers are suddenly known as “Nest” while underneath the hood of the recently released smartphones, the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G, both of them carry more or less the same innards. This begs the question: Why should customers pick the old generation handset when purchasing a new smartphone? In my review, I gave the Pixel 4a 5G the chance to prove itself in everyday life for an entire week. Is the new old Pixel smartphone convincing enough to make the cut?

MIUI 12 review: Xiaomi’s Android overlay is out of this world
The Xiaomi MIUI’s interface happens to be one of the most popular on the market (alongside Samsung’s revamped OneUI), but it is also one of the most complicated. Forget about stock Android, MIUI doesn’t give in to the idea of minimalism and decided to roll out a slew of native apps, animations, and customizations. Here’s my complete review of MIUI 12 for NextPit.

Oppo Reno 4 5G review: a rock-solid smartphone
Rounded corners, a borderless display with the camera located in the upper left corner at the back: The Oppo Reno4 5G could also be an iPhone at first glance if it weren’t for the punch-hole notch located in front. At the same time, the manufacturer flooded several iterations of the smartphone in the market. This review is about the standard version, which comes with 5G connectivity, a triple camera setup at the back, and super-fast charging capability.

Huawei FreeBuds Pro review: out of this world performance
My sense of hearing was teased, first with some playful French tunes. The bass levels are deep, while the cacophony of voices rise within me. I feel a slight degree of discomfort, but it could be due to the way the experience was designed with the form factor of Huawei’s latest wireless earbuds. This is because the FreeBuds Pro tend to cause a little bit more of a squeeze in my ear canal than other models. There is a true feeling of musical enjoyment throughout the entire experience. The following song flows evenly, with the feeling of discomfort melting away. From soft sounds to the crystal clear string of a violin crying in the hands of a maestro, the audio range changes dramatically. Through it all, the FreeBuds Pro from Huawei provided me a very balanced and enjoyable listening experience, as though the company had grown up in this department. Read all about it in my review of what I deem to be one of the main competitors to the AirPods Pro that are available on the market at this moment.

OnePlus 8T hands-on: Crossing all the T’s?
“Ultra stops at nothing.” After a pre-briefing and a keynote event, I still do not understand that slogan and the meaning that it tries to convey. But one thing is clear: the OnePlus 8T will be announced this Wednesday, October 14, at the price point of €599 ($704) while doing everything in order to deserve the letter ‘T’ engraved within the case, following the footsteps of its illustrious predecessors. Is the OnePlus 8T faithful to the heritage of the manufacturer’s mid-range flagship series? While waiting for my complete review, here is a sneak peek in my hands-on of the OnePlus 8T for NextPit.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live review: best to date, but not perfect
While they could have gone unnoticed alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Note 20, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live stood out with their innovative bean-shaped design. They are also the first true wireless headphones with ANC from the South Korean manufacturer. Here is my complete review for NextPit.

ColorOS 11 (Beta) Review: right up there with the best?
Shortly after Google’s Android 11 announcement, smartphone and wearables major Oppo confirmed the launch of a beta version updated  ColorOS mobile operating system based on Android 11. For the past couple of weeks, I have been using the Oppo Find X2 – with this beta version of ColorOS 11 installed. Having spent a decent amount of time with the phone, it’s about time I share my experience with the latest, most feature-laden version of ColorOS so far. Note that we at NextPit had already published a primer on some of the fresh features on ColorOS 11. Read it here.
