500: maintenance mode

Greetings from the Engine Room!

Sorry, but there's really nothing to see here right now. Our server is in maintenance mode – and our little bot is trying to sort the error messages with its last bit of energy.

Whether it was a data leak, a power outage in the cluster, or just a grumpy bit – we don't know yet. But what we do know is:

The data drama escalated into a server meltdown. But don't worry: We're on it.

What now?

  • Everything is surely running smoothly over at our colleagues from inside digital – why not stop by!
  • Or you could pass the time by visiting our social media channels – for example Instagram, YouTube or TikTok. At least there are no server problems there – promised.

Thanks for your patience. Our bot is already rebooting at full speed. 🔧

The OnePlus 8 is the thinking-man’s 5G phone right now
The OnePlus 8, along with its bigger brother the OnePlus 8 Pro, was launched at a series of Online pop-up events today. Fancy launch events are on hold for all smartphone manufacturers at the moment, as the live stream keynote becomes the saving grace. I was able to go hands-on with the OnePlus 8 ahead of the launch.

The OnePlus 8 Pro has everything you could want in a phone
It’s April and therefore time for OnePlus to present its latest smartphones. While the new OnePlus 8 looks more like a shrunken OnePlus 7T Pro with the latest hardware, OnePlus puts everything a smartphone fan can expect from a flagship product into the 8 Pro. In our first hands-on with the OnePlus 8 Pro, we show you that the manufacturer has added key features that were missing in the past.

Honor MagicBook 14 review: a lightweight, affordable workhorse
The MagicBook 14 sees Honor’s first laptop entry several new European markets. On paper, it is almost identical to the Huawei Matebook D 14, which is why I would like to share my impressions of it after spending a fortnight with the Honor MagicBook 14. There is plenty to shout about, so do read on.

Honor 9X Pro review: jumping into the cold water
The Honor 9X Pro looks similar to some of its predecessors and siblings of the Honor and Huawei brands. New are modernized equipment and especially the 7nm chipset with more AI and graphics performance. In addition to brisk work and gaming speeds, the affordable smartphone also takes good photos thanks to its triple camera. Unfortunately, the software is not yet in a competitive condition.

Huawei’s Mate Xs is a terrific foldable phone, without Google Services
Last year, Huawei stole the show from all the other manufacturers at Mobile World Congress 2019 with the Mate X, a folding smartphone where the display was folded around the outside of the device. The Huawei Mate X was only sold in China. Now, the second generation, the Huawei Mate Xs, is to be used to serve the international markets. In our review of the Huawei Mate Xs, we find out for you what advantages and disadvantages it brings with it in everyday life and whether the investment is worthwhile for everyone.

Silly money: here’s what $650 headphones sound like
On March 13, the Montblanc MB01 wireless headphones were launched. However, with Sony, Samsung, and Apple in the headphone business, Montblanc faces strong competition. The company is mainly known for its famous and expensive pens, but I wanted to find out whether the manufacturer is also ready for the audio market.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro review: a practical phone with annoying quirks
Xiaomi, Huawei, Redmi – all of these manufacturers have already proven that Chinese smartphones can more than hold their own in the global market. But after reading Eric’s review of the Reno 2, I was curious to see what the Oppo Reno 3 Pro would be like. Here is my full review.

Huawei MateBook D 14 review: excellent value for money
Despite a very complicated 2019, Huawei has held on to its ambitions in the notebook market with all its might. Supported by Microsoft and its Windows 10, the Chinese manufacturer continues to offer interesting alternatives to the classic computer products. Released in February of this year, the MateBook D 14 is a serious contender in the mid-range notebook market. The first reviews and videos on YouTube raved about this computer in glowing terms. But what do we think?

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra review: perfection exists only on paper
Samsung’s new flagship smartphones have arrived. The Galaxy S20 Ultra lives up to its name, at least on paper. In reality, after using for about a week, the true picture is more complicated. There are five cameras with a total of more than 200 megapixels, 8K video recording and as much storage and RAM as a decent desktop computer. But we don’t judge smartphones on paper. Here’s the real deal.

The Sharp Aquos V is a high-end smartphone from a time capsule
Sharp is launching a new smartphone for 2020 designed to fit into yesteryear. The hardware would have been considered ‘flagship’ in 2017. The anachronism is now being offered as a new product at mid-range prices. Our test shows whether the purchase is worthwhile for those on a tight budget.
