In 2017, during a visit to Rio de Janeiro, I discovered a standalone “view-master” device at a flea market. These gadgets are made to hold a small image that you can see by looking through a lens. The gadget I picked up featured an image of a person standing next to a console television—the ones that looked like pieces of furniture.
