Black Friday brings Sony’s WH‑1000XM6 to a new low of $398. With enhanced drivers, stronger ANC, and a sleeker foldable build, these headphones deliver high end performance at a price that is finally more approachable.
If the steep price of the Sony WH‑1000XM6 held you back before, the Black Friday sale might finally give you a reason to consider them. The new over-ear noise-canceling headphones are part of the sale and are currently available at a new best price of $398. That’s a $61 cut, or 13 percent off, and the biggest discount so far.
You might think this is modest, but it’s a worthy offer considering Sony rarely discounts its flagship headphones. All three colorways of the WH‑1000XM6 are available at the same price: Black, Midnight Blue, and Platinum Silver.
Sony’s WH‑1000XM5 were already praised as high-end Bluetooth headphones with sound and ANC that outclassed rivals. With the WH‑1000XM6 (review), the Japanese brand further improves many aspects of its predecessor.
The design carries over the sleek look, with a thin but well-padded leather headband and large earcups that fully cover the ears, though they are not the largest on the market. A metal frame connects the cups and headband, but much of the chassis uses plastic. That is not a deal breaker, as the headphones are lighter than many competitors and now feature a foldable design with a more durable hinge and a compact carrying case.

Sound quality has been upgraded in the sixth-generation WH‑1000XM headphones. They use 30 mm carbon fiber composite drivers for richer audio, boomier bass, and less distortion at high volumes. LDAC support and an expanded equalizer also allow for better customization.
If ANC is a priority, the WH‑1000XM6 delivers a more effective solution. They are equipped with a new QN3 processor and 12 microphones, four more than before, suppressing a wider range of ambient noise. Voice calls are also clearer and crisper.
Battery life remains at 30 hours with ANC on or 40 hours with it off. While unchanged, these figures are still longer than what you get from the AirPods Max. Charging is relatively slow, but a quick 3-minute plug-in provides up to 3 hours of listening time.
