500: maintenance mode

Greetings from the Engine Room!

Sorry, but there's really nothing to see here right now. Our server is in maintenance mode – and our little bot is trying to sort the error messages with its last bit of energy.

Whether it was a data leak, a power outage in the cluster, or just a grumpy bit – we don't know yet. But what we do know is:

The data drama escalated into a server meltdown. But don't worry: We're on it.

What now?

  • Everything is surely running smoothly over at our colleagues from inside digital – why not stop by!
  • Or you could pass the time by visiting our social media channels – for example Instagram, YouTube or TikTok. At least there are no server problems there – promised.

Thanks for your patience. Our bot is already rebooting at full speed. 🔧

Honor Band 6 review: Cool design, but it has one major flaw
The Honor Band 6 is the farewell kiss that Huawei and Honor gave each other shortly before both companies parted ways. This fitness tracker has been available globally since early April, where it has seen a redesign just like the Huawei Band 6. However, there is an important feature that was left out to keep the price down. Does that blip make a huge difference in this review?

AirPop Active+ Halo review: Are smart masks the next big thing?
The Active+ Halo by AirPop is a smart face mask that can record your breathing data! If you do not understand how it works, don’t worry. This is because I have tried this face mask and will tell you whether you should spend almost €150 on it.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 review: Top drawer fitness tracker
Xiaomi certainly made its mark among budget fitness trackers with the Mi Band 4, offering plenty of bang for your hard-earned buck. This doesn’t mean that the rest of the industry has remained stationary, but rather, other rivals have upped the ante. However, Xiaomi once again shows why they are ahead of the curve with the Mi Band 5. We took a look at the fitness tracker and were left quite impressed.

OnePlus Band Review: Don’t settle for this
OnePlus, once known for its ‘flagship killer’ smartphone models, isn’t the same company anymore. Deviating from its usual path of releasing just two ‘affordable flagships’ every year, the company, in 2019-20, diversified into several new segments; televisions, wearable audio and budget smartphones. OnePlus intends to follow a similar path this year and recently added one more segment to its repertory; fitness trackers. Say hello to OnePlus’ newest product; the One Plus Band. As of February 5, 2021, the OnePlus Band is exclusively on sale only in one country; India.

Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 review: Chic alternative to the Mi Band
AMOLED display, a seemingly never-ending battery life, and a feeling as though it is barely there when you sleep – did Samsung accidentally send me the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 as a review unit? Of course not! However, at first glance, Samsung seems to have taken aim at Xiaomi’s hugely popular fitness tracker with the Galaxy Fit 2. This review also points to how Samsung’s heart rate monitor has improved when it comes to (more) accurate pulse taking.

Fitbit Charge 4 review: Beautiful and expensive
Fitbit offers an integrated GPS module, mobile payment capability, and long battery life in the Fitbit Charge 4. These are features that are certainly not found in every fitness tracker and were missing in the previous model. Whether these make the Charge 4 the ultimate fitness tracker or not, and what do I mean by expensive in the headline, will be delved in deeper detail in this review.

Realme band review: cheap fitness tracker with glaring weaknesses
As usual for Realme, the first fitness tracker from the Chinese manufacturer is also headed for the German market at a real knock-down price in order to attract buyers. But is the Realme Band really an alternative to Xiaomi Mi Band 4 and Honor Band 5?

How to count calories with your smartwatch or fitness tracker
Apart from the 10,000 steps challenge that many of us try to achieve on a daily basis, keeping track of the number of calories burned each day happens to be THE measure that fitness trackers and smartwatches rely on. While having data at your fingertips is great, the more pressing question would be: what do I actually do with it?  In addition, is it possible to rely on the calculated calorie burn, and is there a way to improve the degree of accuracy?
