If you are still on the fence about a compact or portable tablet, you can pick up Apple’s latest iPad Mini 7 at a heavy discount from major retailers. The tablet is now back to its record low price of $399 at Amazon and Best Buy, which is $100 or 20% cheaper than usual.
The sale has all colors of the iPad Mini 7 similarly discounted: Space Gray, Purple, Starlight, and Blue. At the same time, the 256GB Wi-Fi variant can be picked up for $499, down from $599.
Who Is The Apple iPad Mini 7 For
The iPad Mini 7 (review), or seventh generation, was launched in October 2024. It is the best and only compact Apple tablet available today. Being portable is its biggest selling point, as it measures 7.69 x 5.31 x 0.25 inches and weighs 10.34 ounces. It is easy to hold with one hand or transport without the added heft of the regular model.
Apple has kept the sleek and modern design of the predecessor for the iPad Mini 7. It has a flat back panel and sides with rounded corners that do not dig into the palm. The familiar 8.3 inch Liquid Retina display is also carried over, which is bright and has vivid colors. While there are no obvious changes, it is believed this model addresses the jelly scroll effect found in the predecessor.
The iPad Mini 7 is fitted with the A17 Pro chipset. It is a notable upgrade from the previous chip, offering about a 30% CPU and 25% GPU performance boost. The latter also added hardware accelerated ray tracing for smoother and enhanced graphics. With a larger RAM and a faster neural engine, AI processing is also quicker.
There is also a newer USB C port generation, which has a faster data transfer rate. The battery in the current iPad Mini did not change. However, with the more efficient chipset, you can expect the same modest battery life rated at 10 hours, even with the faster processor.
