Four reasons why you shouldn't get rid of your Samsung Galaxy S6

Do you own a Galaxy S6 and are you thinking of replacing it in 2016? You may want to think again. In this article, we’ll provide some arguments that may just make you change your mind… The Galaxy S6 is still an excellent, top-end mobile, so here are four good reasons why you should consider holding onto it.

1. Because the camera is still very good

Although it was released over a year ago, one of the biggest arguments for keeping your Galaxy S6 is that it still has one of the best cameras available on the market today. For those of you who may be a little unsure about such a bold claim, I suggest you take a look at the test carried out by the experts at DxOMark. Here the photo and video camera (Sony IMX240) - improved by Samsung -  received  a score of 86 points out of 100. We can also confirm the excellent quality of the camera after carrying out our own detailed tests on the Galaxy S6 Edge.

2. Because it has an excellent design finish

If you already own a Galaxy S6, you'll already have been able to enjoy Samsung's new design. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, the frame for the Galaxy S6 is made entirely of metal with protective glass (Gorilla Glass 4) on both the front and back panels of the smartphone. Although this doesn't make them unbreakable the combined materials does give the Galaxy S6 an advantage over its competitors, making it shock resistance to up to one meter on a hard surface like a wall or the floor. Outside of that, the design of the Galaxy S6 ensures it is still easy to use and fits well in your hand.

3. Because it has been updated with Marshmallow

Unlike other manufacturers, who hold off until the release of their new flagship models or simply choose not to do any updates until the next generation, Samsung had the great idea of going a few steps further and established a beta test period. This allowed the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to be updated before they were announced at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. By the way, you can even snap the system image using Kies since it is now offered by SamMobile Firmware.

4. Because the price is reasonable

The Galaxy S6 now has a more attractive price than when it was first launched. Launched with a price of over $750 at the beginning of 2015, the Galaxy S6 is now priced at around $500. With the Christmas holidays just around the corner, it is a safe bet that its price will lower again in the coming weeks to around $450 - maybe even less. You'll just need to be a little patient.

So, don’t replace your Galaxy S6 on a whim - consider what you could loose by giving it up.

Will you consider keeping your Galaxy S6 or will you opt to get a newer Samsung smartphone, like the Galaxy S7 Edge? Do you hope to see more innovation in a possible Galaxy S8?

I have the S6 Edge plus and my battery life is great. The s6 has a smaller battery with a higher pixel density (not by much) and this may contribute. But I stream YouTube videos, music and go on the internet quite a bit. My battery normally lasts 1.5 days. I get 4-5 hrs screen on time. Sometimes you just gotta go for the bigger phone. Samsung Incorporated features to mitigate the screen size in Settings. Bigger is better. S6 Edge Plus.

I agree & unlike the s7 the S6 camera is wide-screen so get full 16 megapixel I would only get around 9 megapixel on the new s7 4:3 is a horrible photo format what to thick black lines on left & right screen. But the battery is bad, charging it 3 times a day. Let's hope the s8 has a proper wide-screen camera sensor.

Galaxy S6 Edge. The most beautiful smartphone ever made, but the battery sucks.

I love my s6 edge it was a damn good phone my only complaint was the battery life. However I do have the s7 edge now and had the note 7 which I miss terribly so. The battery life on the s7 edge is phenomenal and if anyone disagrees they just don't know how to optimize Android to its true potential. Anyways the s6 is still a damn good phone and to get it cheaper hell many people wouldn't have a problem using it for a couple more years im sure. The only thing I miss is the exynos processor wish it was in the s7 edge. Snapdragon just gets too damn hot for my taste, it throttles a lot when it does get warm as well. Exynos just always seemed to perform better at least for me.

The battery life is awful and it lags so much, I'm not keeping it any longer, I ordered the pixel xl and I'm excited to get my hands on that

You should look at the One plus 3t before making a move for a new phone, the One plus 3 comparison studies show the Op3 is a better phone and a lot cheaper

It's not a better phone than the pixel. Your 'studies' be damned

The 4th reason doesn't make sense since this article is for why you should KEEP your S6. 4th reason should be IR Blaster since for some reason s7 doesn't have one

I have an S7 Edge and next week this time I will be using an LG-V20 and putting device to collect dust in a drawer. I can't stand the S7 Edge. The side screens are annoying. The curved corners are ugly and after having a Note7 this phone is an utter disappointment. It will be sold ASAP and I will probably never get another Samsung phone unless they really step up their game.

All reasons I can think of and reasons u mention in article makes me still happy with my "old" (?) Samsung S5 Plus G901F. Rooted, Xposed, Stockfirmware does everything FAST and reliable what I need...

#5, it's one of the only phones that still has an IR blaster.
Other than the battery life (which doesn't matter much at work, I keep it on the wireless charger), this phone has been a beast! I'll probably keep it until OS updates aren't supported, which is probably after Nougat.

Hey you grade 10 dropout, it's not "your" it is "you are" dick head. Don't make nasty comments on someone else's comments when you can't even get your own comments correct.

Don't be a dick head. I've noticed long ago 90% of posters spell you're as "your". It must be just simpler to type than having to find ['] on a tiny keyboard. Use your common sense.

I have the S7 edge, and honestly, I think the camera on my S6 edge was better. It was sharper, and the 16 MP helped with the screen ratio. Just better overall. No dizzoubt.

It's also a good time to buy the Galaxy S6 new. But like the article says, we should wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday specials.

My S6 works good enough and I always get compliments for its photos. Only the battery sucks big deal since day 1.
Always nice to see tech articles praise it though!
