The LG G Flex 3 is the rumored sequel to the LG G Flex 2 The previous device was the first to launch with Qualcomm’s much-talked about Snapdragon 810 processor, but its release was somewhat marred by overheating issues. Will the new device receive a warmer welcome? LG has now said it has no plans to launch the device at IFA in September. Here’s what we know so far about the LG G Flex 3.

LG G Flex 3 price and release date

The original LG G Flex was released in November 2013, and the G Flex 2 arrived January 2015. We were expecting the LG G Flex 3 to make an appearance at CES in Las Vegas this January, but this came and went with no word on the new model.

We reached out to LG for comment on when we might expect the device to be launched, and Ken Hong, Senior Director, Global Communications of LG, said simply that LG "has no plans to introduce a new smartphone at IFA", which takes place September 2 - 7 in Berlin, leaving us wondering where the LG G Flex 3 lies buried.

The LG G Flex 2 is currently priced at about US$389.99 and the original LG G Flex is selling for around US$300. The LG G Flex 3 will likely be in the region of US$500 off-contract, unless it does arrive with the specs outlined above (in which case it could cost even more).

Though the rumored specs sound impressive, based on LG's previous strategy for the G Flex devices, we think the manufacturer will probably opt for slightly lower-grade hardware. We'll have more for you on the LG G Flex 3 soon.

LG G Flex 3 design

A rumor picked up by GSMArena suggests a metal construction for the G Flex 3, but this is unlikely. The series is named G Flex and metal isn’t really renowned for its pliability. A curved metal smartphone design is not entirely outside the realms of possibility – LG Display is making curved TVs housed in metal – we just aren’t sure it will happen on the G Flex 3.

LG G Flex 3 specs

The latest rumors suggest that the new handset will launch with the Snapdragon 820 chipset, and could be the first to do so. This will be Qualcomm's next major mobile processing unit, reported to be 35 percent faster than the Snapdragon 810.

It has also been speculated that the G Flex 3 will house a 6-inch QHD display, 4 GB of RAM, a 20.7 MP rear camera and 8 MP front-facing camera. The battery is reported to have a 3,500 mAh capacity, but is unlikely to be removable, and the G Flex 3 is also said to have expandable storage via a MicroSD card slot.

This is The one device that I am waiting for. Every site sharing almost completely different spec rumors though. The last LG I had was the G2 and it was a pretty solid device. I love the Flex line and I hope they release it in 2017. This is The only device I would leave HTC for. My wife just got the iPhone 7 plus. I am real-estate envious right now. I do like her's better than I thought I would. Not an Apple fan myself. Android all the way. Bring on the Flex 3.

I owned both phones the Flex and the flex 2. The flex 2 I think that the flex 2 was marred by the 5.5 inch display.i was hoping for a larger display. I tried the flex 2 after owning the original flex. I was very unhappy. And owning it for just 2 months. I sold it and went back to the original flex. Now if these sprcs hold true I will be first in line to use my upgrade. Lets just wait and see.

I agree, I have had both phones and now I use an apple because I cannot be sastified with the g flex 2. The first g flex was amazing and the 3rd has a lot to live up to. If it's just another g flex 2 with a bigger screen you can count me out.

Best phone I've ever owned. I don't ever want anything else other than an upgrade to the G Flex 2.If they don't make a new one, I'm happy to keep the one I have. Lke other folks here I have dropped mine 3 times in the garage onto the cement floor and no damage what so ever. I love putting the thing in my back pocket and never worry about it. Mine still looks like a brand new phone and people ask me about it all the time.

I have read several blogs on the up and coming LG Flex 3. I have noticed one thing that not one can state for sure what the display size is going to be. I have had both the original as well as Flex 2. I found that the flex 2 was too small for me. I found the flex 2 to slippery to hold with out a case. The Original flex for me did not have that. Large enough to fit firmly in my hand. All tho the Flex 2 has a faster processor and better camera, I like to large display. Better for me as my daily driver. So I hope that this article is correct in specs. I will jump on it with my upgrade. I now have the LG 4. It is ok but I miss the 6 inch display.

I really like my G Flex 2 and while it is not my daily driver, if the G Flex 3 has a 6" screen then it will be too large for me. I was hoping for 5.5" like the Flex 2.

I want this phone. I have the LG G via Sprint. I luv the phone. But have been having nothing but problems with it. Problems Sprint won't FIX. I'm using their prepaid service and don't know if I get this new one if it will start giving me problems 2wks after the 30days return policy. I've been so wanting any of the LG flexes after the 1st. Especially since this one gets hot and there is no sd slot. Suggestions?????

I am with you Matthew underwood. 6" would normally be too much for me but it's just almost unbelievable how much more convenient and comfortable the curve makes it. 6" in the curved design is amazing and I have even considered buying extra g-flex 1 units because after owing it there absolutely no other phone I am remotely interested in! Besides enhancing the viewing angle the curve makes it much safer to hold during two handed typing, much more comfortable to pocket, whether it is back pocket or shirt front. The speakers are even elevated when lying on the back but best of all is that my screen is still in one piece after at least three falls that would have been certain fatalities for anything else.
The criticism from people who never used the flex is just laughable and I sincerely hope the lastest rumor that it will be skipped entirely is untrue as I would be forced to get a phone I would dislike after this gem.
