Common Nexus 6 problems and how to fix them

The Nexus 6 hasn't had the smoothest of starts, but trouble seems to keep on finding it. This time it's been suggested that the Nexus 6 has a serious burn-in problem with its AMOLED display - a problem which becomes apparent after only several days of use. Read on for all of the details.

Tech blogger Erica Griffin reported the problem on Google+ stating: "Unbelievable... Just got my #Nexus6 and I am already seeing the keyboard and status bar burned in after just a few days." Griffin went on to add "What crappy version of Amoled is Google using?"

It's common knowledge that OLED displays deteriorate over time, and they are prone to screen burn-in (especially thanks to the static buttons on smartphones). However, the presence of this affectation after only a "few days" of use should set alarm bells ringing for any potention buyer.

This isn't the first problem the Nexus 6 has encountered, the Motorola designed flagship has been plagued with pre-order issues since it first went on sale in the Play Store. Upon attempting to make a purchase, hungry fans were greeted with a "We are out of inventory. Please check back soon" message when trying to buy any color/memory combination of the 6-inch phablet. Google has since advised that new stock will only be appearing on a Wednesday, so check back then if you're still trying to get one.

We are yet to confirm this potential burn-in problem ourselves, and the issue doesn't seem to have been reported by any of the other major players in the tech industry. Only time will tell if this doesn't end up becoming a serious problem. Like the iPhone 6 Plus and #bendgate, are we going to see #burngate start to trend?

Have any of you Nexus 6 users out there experienced burn-in? Or any other Nexus 6 problems? Let us know in the comments below.

I had several Samsung phones with amoled and they never burned in. My Nexus 6 started doing it several weeks in.. I don't regret it per se, the Nexus is a super awesome computer overall but this is a regrettable issue..... Yes you can even out the burn by burning all the screen at once with those fixer apps but that's not really a fix....

Samsung has good Research & Development departments, so they know how to make superAMOLED screen's. ( & smart-phone's )

I can confirm the screen burn-in. After seeing Erica's video on Youtube, I confirmed the same burn in on the top of the screen where the time, signal strength, notifications come in - when on dark gray images you can clearly see line that separates it...

Other issue I have on the same phone is vertical and horizontal banding lines... very anoying and even visible on any colors when there is motion on the screen (scrolling through home screens, etc.)... Google has already dispatched the replacement to my address and expecting it on Monday to be delivered.

I will heavily test that one as well and report back... but so far it is likely that the burn in issue is more consistent on the model as it is - which means that the second phone will go back to Google (actually Moto)...

I always have been hesitant to purchasing Motorola products from the simple experience of reading pages and pages of Motorola phone issues... they come strong on spec sheet, but cannot deliver that final product for the love of God!
Leave it to Moto to screw-it up!

is this any surprise? early adopters always pay this kind of price.
however, motorola makes good radios....they've always had display issues though even with their dumb phones.

I had the Nexus 6 for one day and took it back. First of all ESPN Sport Center app is not compatible, the phone gets hot while charging, speaker phone audio is low, the turbo charging is a joke mt Lg G2 charges just as fast and also the battery is less than my Lg G2. So took it back waiting for the Lg G4 next summer.

    Hmm - like it is

Galaxy S4 GT-i9515 Value Edition or Black Edition depending on country, it's just another way of Samsung making money on the S4. Google it or check out the different S4 model numbers that are available on Samsung's website.

I was able to order one from the US Play Store, the Midnight Blue 64GB model. They did sell out in less than two minutes. After the previous issues ordering Nexus devices, I made sure I had my default credit card and shipping address already set in Google Wallet. So when I clicked the BUY button, it was only seconds to complete the purchase.

OK I figured it out. These comments now show up under any story this hippie writes now. To make it seem like every story of his has activity on it. Very deceitful, if you ask me. This is the fourth article of yours that my same comments are on.
