USB-C is the all-in-one cable you've been waiting your entire life for

Android devices will soon house a new USB port, USB type C, which will support power, data transfer, and 4K video output.

The new USB interface, which carries USB 3-level speeds, can be found on Google's recently revealed Chromebook Pixel. While previous USB connections have been concerned with powering/charging a device, or transferring pictures of an ex-girlfriend into an out-of-the-way, but nonetheless entirely accessible part of a hard drive, USB Type-C will also be able to output 4K video.

The technology can support far more power than is necessary for any current devices, meaning it is "future-proof" to a certain extent. You can check it out in this video below:

Adam Rodriguez, Google's product manager, closes the video by saying "expect to see this in a lot of Chromebooks and Android phones in the near future". Sounds OK to us.

    Apple didn't invent USB-C they are just one of the 1st to use it. USB-C was formulated by an industry wide group who get together to discuss what tech standards will be used in the next few years. USB, Wireless protocol, Wireless charging protocols, HDMI etc, etc...

      Yes, but who was the first big one to bring it to the world?

        Not Apple sorry mate. A bunch of motherboard manufacturers started months ago.

        Did you read the part when I say "who was the first BIG one"?

        Yeah, it looks like you didn't;

        You'll find Google released the Chromebook "pixel" with USB-C. I believe Google to be the first "big one". Though as I mentioned before, all the industry leaders decided on USB-C early last year with plans to implement on devices throughout this year.

        Apple has not done anything good or bad, it just happens they promoted it along with Google and various other Computer hardware companies.

        Chromebook Pixel also use it. But who cames first?
        The chicken or the egg? I mean... Chromebook Pixel, or the new Macbook?

        I don't think it matters, as I said it's a standard that all the manufacturers will be using, Apple or Google did not invent it, they are implementing an agreed standard. It just so happens that these manufacturer's are one of the 1st to implement it.

        Yes. The discussion started because I said that "finally Apple did something good", being the first one to bring this new pattern.

        We're all going to be using it, in the end.

    "USB-C is the all-in-one cable you've been waiting your entire life for". Yeah, when I was 4 years old, I was thinking, "I just can't wait until USB-C is invented."
