Hello,
I just bought a new phone and installed WhatsApp.
Everything seemed to be working fine at first - they asked for my username & optional picture - but it has now been saying "initialization in process" for almost 6 hours...
And now I've tried contacting the helpdesk and it just says "connecting", even though I have a good wifi connection.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue ?

The first thing I would do is to force close WhatsApp or restart the phone.

Then, try clearing the app's cache. And try the setup steps again.

  1. Make sure you have a reliable internet connection.
  2. Uninstall your current WhatsApp, restart your phone, and install the latest version of WhatsApp Messenger from Google Play Store.

Download size < 0.15 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.
The minimalist app available on Play Store: https://goo.gl/ws42fN
