If I lost my phone or my phone is spoiled, I want to easily restore my data and settings, so my new phone has all the current data and settings.
What is the best backup plan? Automatic backups?

I am using Samsung S Duos and Android version is Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.

Google is providing backup services. You just need to create an account in Google. Google Account is good for backup.

The best back up I can think of is, the good old fashion way !
Back up your data yourself on a external hard drive. Like your home PC or lap top computer.
When you use any of these back up programs offered by the technology companies any thing can happen and your data will be lost! And if their computer gets hacked then your data ends up on sale on the dark web!
Back up your data yourself.
it's more secure!
